Hello hello!

As an author, I keep hearing about the importance of having an author newsletter. This seemed odd, since I never cared for newsletters myself. I'd subscribe thinking they'd interest me, they'd show up amidst a wash of other emails, I'd tell myself I'd read them later when I had more time, and then they'd sit. For days. Weeks. Months. Until eventually I realized, even if I did read them, whatever information they contained would likely be outdated. That release date that one author was celebrating? Yeah, it happend six months ago. Oops.

Then a funny thing happened. Hearing about the importance of having my own newsletter, I began to actually pay attention to other authors' newsletters. I started taking the time to open them, at the very least skim them to see what sort of content each author offered, and then decide whether I wanted to stay subscribed or not. Some, I didn't. Others? I actually enjoyed! One author in particular mentioned a small town, indie bookstore had signed copies of her books, and that small town, indie bookstore just so happened to be fifteen minutes off the interstate during a road trip I took in July of 2025. Guess who stopped to buy herself a signed book? And in the process, I also got some fun extra swag with the book and was reminded of how much I enjoy getting off the beaten path. It makes travel feel so much more intentional when you're not going 70 mph and zipping by everything "in the way" between you and your final destination.

All that to say, here I am, now working on creating my own author newsletter. For personal reasons this is not a great season for me to try to start one, and that's why I'm writing you this introductory letter. To let you know a newsletter will be coming, and what (I think) you can expect when it does. Right now, I believe I'll send out a newsletter every 2-3 months, with regular content focusing on writing and publishing updates, book recommendations, and devotional thoughts. We'll see if that stays true or if God leads me in another direction. I'd also love to add something interactive, too, so I get to hear from you. After all, this isn't all about me. Let's get to know each other!

All right, that's enough for now. Talk again soon!
